Coalitions

To accomplish the goals of each identified health initiative, Healthiest Manitowoc County rely on numerous volunteers who give countless numbe of hours to transform the health of our county. Each of the five listed coalitions are always seeking new volunteers to assist with long-term and one-time projects.  Discover your interest and get involved.

Injury Prevention

​​Manitowoc County has one of the highest rates of death from injury in the state. This coalition works to identify areas for improvement and ways to implement safety initiatves in the county.

Activity and Nutrition

Obesity contnues to be a concern on a federal, state and county level. This coalition is finding ways to provide opportunities for increased activity in the schools and workplace and encourage more fresh produce at schools, businesses and at home.

Substance Abuse Prevention

​​The prevelance of alcohol and drugs in the county is one of the most noted concerns. This coalition works closely with law enforcement, hospitals, and the district attorney's office to identify needs and opportunities to prevent the misuse and abuse of all substances including tobacco, alcohol, prescription and illegal drugs.

Mental Wellness

​​This is one of the newest coalitions formed under Healthiest Manitowoc County. Three subcommittees: Access to Services, Education and Awareness, and Advocacy have developed to better identify the gaps, needs and opportunities to address mental health in Manitowoc County.

Healthcare Access

​​Those who have no or limited insurance struggle to receive and cover healthcare costs including preventive measures. This coalition works to implement programs that can provide healthcare services for those who may otherwise not receive the needed care.
